Welcome

Welcome to the home of Deaf Basketball Australia (DBA), the national governing body of all Deaf and Hard of Hearing basketball in Australia. Here you can find information about the organisation, it’s history, and up to date information on the national Men’s, Women’s and Under-21 squads.

Our Mission

At Deaf Basketball Australia we aim to promote and foster basketball throughout Australia for the deaf and hard of hearing, encouraging the formation of deaf and hard of hearing basketball associations across the nation so that all participants have opportunities available to represent their states and country through the international sport of basketball.

National Teams

Below are the National teams under Deaf Basketball Australia. While the Goannas are the only current active program, we are actively recruiting for new deaf and hard of hearing talent across all programs, focusing on the Geckos for the upcoming 2024 Asia Pacific Deaf Basketball Championships.

What DBA means to me

Deaf Basketball Australia has had a positive impact on many athletes and staff who have been involved with the organisation. Whether it is improving their basketball skills, learning to be a great team player, learning Auslan, developing knowledge and tools for life away from the court, or making life-long friends, DBA continues to take pride in inspiring the next generation of athletes to succeed on and off the court.

This video shows Australian Goannas captain, Jordan Woolmer, reflecting on what the Deaf Basketball Australia program means to him.
